“Paniolo Pastures”
Rich Coffee, sweet Leather, spicy Cardamom and Star Anise, along with Grassy notes and a hint of silky Vanilla that is what makes up Paniolo Pastures. King Kamehameha III invited vaqueros from Spanish California to come to Hawai‘i to teach cattle handling skills. The first vaqueros were brought to the Parker Ranch in 1823. They were called Espanoles (Spaniards) which the native Hawaiians pronounced as paniolos. In time all cowboys in Hawai‘i became known as paniolos. If you head up to Waimea, you will get a strong sense of the Paniolo lifestyle there: rolling pastures in the cool, higher altitude, western wear and ranch references throughout the town and land beyond. Beautiful country filled with a unique history.
Big Island Candles are handmade in Mountain View on Hawai‘i Island. Each richly scented soy wax candle comes in a 4oz tin and will burn from 20-30 hours. Each scent has its own color combination and features contrasting soy wax ‘lava’ chunks as decoration that melt into the candle as it burns.
